The birth of Nominal

The point of wearing anything is to feel a certain way. But instead of just feeling confident or pretty, we wanted people to feel good. To know that the pendant around their neck serves a bigger purpose than just being jewelry. With so many connections to our beautiful culture and language, my husband and I had a lot of trouble finding ways to outwardly express our inner values. We wanted people to dress not only to show off their sense of style, but their sense of identity. From the country that they have a connection to, to the beliefs that they hold close to their heart, we knew that peoples’ values needed an outlet. We set out to create more than just a brand, but a family that provided people with an avenue of expression, and a modern way to exhibit their passion through fashion. On January 22nd, 2018, Nominal was born, and within less than 2 years, has become a leader in the Arabic and meaningful accessories industry.

Stemming from our best-selling Name Necklace, the brand grew into a sense of pride beyond just about your actual name, but also the person you are and hope to become. Not only meant for the celebratory highs of your life, Nominal jewelry is also designed with the intent to provide a sense of resilience in the trying lows, too. From patience to love to trust, many of our pieces are not just meant to display the virtues that you love, but to serve as a “note to self” of sorts, a reminder to always be the best version of yourself.

Inspired by the poetic and concise nature of the Arabic language, Nominal jewelry often showcases Arabic words and phrases that carry a lot of weight for people, whether they are familiar with the language or not. Since the conception of the company, we’ve grown constantly and have included more and more cultures and languages in our pieces, to bring together not only fans of fashion, but people of different cultures from all around the world. 

With emphasis on minimalism and a modern twist on meaningful accessories, we aim for Nominal to be a community of people from all around the globe, united by the beautiful opportunity of showcasing your true colors via the way you dress. 

Our Mission

While we strive to make fashion-forward accessories that make you feel good, it is our duty to make an impact in this world with your help. We want there to be a purpose to all of this, beyond the item that you receive. Beginning in February of 2019, Nominal is proud to say that we run a monthly campaign to donate towards different causes. This is known as our ‘Deed of the Month’ Campaign. Every month, we donate a portion of each order towards a new cause. From providing bread to people in Syria, to building a fresh water well in Mali, you've helped us build this platform into something bigger than all of us. Simply by purchasing some of your favorite items, a portion of your entire purchase goes directly towards unique causes. With your help, the sky is the limit, and we will always use our platform to put a smile on the faces of those who order something, and on the faces of those who could really use the smile.
